Karen earned her degrees in music from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire in 2003. In 2004 she began graduate studies in piano performance and pedagogy at Meredith College in Raleigh. During her studies Karen performed solo with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra as Meredith’s Concerto/Aria Competition winner. Upon her return to the Midwest Karen maintained a busy performing and teaching schedule. She served as choral accompanist for the UW-Stout Symphonic Singers under the baton of Alfred composer/arranger Patrick Liebergen; as founder/lecturer of the Menomonie Art Music Society, and as collaborative artist with art song soprano, Juliana Schmidt. Karen taught piano at Asbury School of Music from 2003- 2005, and joyfully returned to the faculty in 2010. She and her husband, Robert, settled in the area permanently, looking forward to many years of involvement in Raleigh’s vibrant artistic community.
