Missionaries 

This brief summary highlights our current long-term missionaries. Get to know them!

Curt and Marcia Rhodes
Questscope works with the most vulnerable people in marginalized communities - indigent women, at-risk children, and disabled persons. They began working with street kids in 1994. Founder and director in Amman, Jordan, Dr. Curt Rhodes has 20+ years of public health and development experience in the Middle East. Amman's mentoring program sees lives transformed as the kids participate in group counseling, spiritual formation, wilderness camping, non-formal education, vocational training, community service, sports and drama.

David and Debbie Hawk
David and Debbie live in Jucuapa, El Salvador, a community of 30,000 people. They are working closely with an established church in San Salvador to establish a congregation in Jucuapa. They hope to be the operating partner of a health and education center in their town.

Mike and Connie Shea
The Sheas work in Londrina, Brazil. They lead a ministry team of six families plus two intercessors. They envision a house of prayer and praise in use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. About half of Mike's time is spent on the road preaching and teaching throughout Brazil. The Sheas have adult children, Becca and Ben, whose lives are a witness for Christ in Brazil.

Stan and Patty Wiebe
The Wiebes work with Building Together Ministries, which helps meet the needs of low income families in inner city Raleigh. BTM's many programs minister to all age groups. They also have a Haiti program. Stan does accounting for BTM but works mainly with the Haiti program. Patty is part-time administrative staff at BTM and also assists with the Haiti program. They have 3 children, two sons and a daughter.

Jim and Jan Ritchie
The Ritchies work for Mexican Medical. Jim is the site director for the clinic in El Florido, Mexico, and has taught English to grades 3-6. Jan works with the children and their families. They have 3 married children. Several short-term mission teams from Asbury have assisted in El Florido.

John and Janie Farwell
John works with Athletes in Action, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. He organizes and coaches basketball teams tht travel around the world and in the US, sharing the gospel with opposing teams and audiences when allowed. When not, they build relationships to potentially share in the future. Janie works with CCC in staff development and training. She visits staff members at universities in the southeast to assist them in personal development. She also leads women's Bible study and discipleship groups at Meredith College.

Katie Rawson
Katie has been a part of Asbury's family since its infancy. She is International Student Ministry Area Director for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship serving NC, SC and VA. Katie supervises staff to help them motivate their Christian students for outreach and leadership. She plans retreats and staff training for international students. Each event is designed to "introduce seekers to Jesus or help followers become more fruitful and faithful."

Charlie and Kathy Lehardy
The Lehardys work for the Mexico branch of Wycliffe Bible Translators. Kathy is an administrative assistant to the director and coordinates funding for special projects. Charlie is a computer programmer; he tracks the inventory of books published in each language and is a problem solver for the mission. They have two grown children, Charlie and Hannah.

Jean Francois Vivil
Through BTM, Asbury supports this pastor in Haiti in an area of poor, dry farm land and one of the three largest voodoo strongholds of the country. Pastor Vivil is willing to confront the spiritual powers of voodoo, encouraging people to accept the Lord and following up with intense discipleship and counseling.
